No excuses for missing citizens’ party
A NUMBER of activities were held throughout Jiading on the opening day of the annual Shanghai Citizens Art Festival. One among the highlights was the staging of a play called “Queen of Coquetry” at Jiading Cultural Center. Most performers of the play were workers from Jiading.
The March 25 celebration attracted thousands of people and was a prelude to a series activities in the district.
Apart from singing and dancing, there are also game shows featuring traditional knowledge and reciting competition.
“The auditions held this month for the major cultural events in the district are expected to receive 100,000 votes,” said Zhu Hong, deputy director of district culture, radio broadcasting, film and television administration.
Preparations for a reciting competition have started. An audition for “Jiading Orators” will kick off next month. Lu Weiming, a pastry chef, planned to perform his favorite “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?”
Almost the same time, the public WeChat account of Jiading Culture Pavilion debuted online to push program listings and tailored services to users.
“We bring our users not only listings for activities during the festival but also the latest updates of auditions to help boost the extensive participation by people in Jiading,” said Li Hui, head of the pavilion.
The online edition of the pavilion “Jiading Culture Cloud” completed its latest update in January. People may check the video footages of Jiading-based activities during the festival through the web portal.
“Even if you miss the party at the scene, you won’t miss it online,” said Zhu. “Information technology enables us to open the window to the outside world,” Zhu added.
During the festival there are also programs especially for teenagers.
