Redevelopment plan

A DRAFT REDEVELOPMENT plan has been unveiled for the riverside Sibao and Qibao areas in Jianggan District. The plan has been published for public reviewing.

The two areas, totaling 7.69 square kilometers, are connected, with the Qiantang River in the east, the Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway in the north, Donghu Road in the west, and Genshan Road and Xiasha Road in the south. They are dense with factories and residential buildings.

Jianggan District has already launched its urban redevelopment project, with Jiubao a target area. The draft plan covers 57 urban villages in Jianggan and will benefit 17,400 families. The project will free up 20 million square meters of land for new construction.

The two areas will be developed as the second phase of Qianjiang New Town and will have three new parks, six green belts, five Metro stations for Line 9, four bus terminals, eight BRT stations and 14 parking lots.

The draft also includes the construction of four high schools, eight primary schools, 15 kindergartens, six food markets, three nursing homes and three cultural plazas.

The draft is on display at the Hangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, in the Bengbu Sub-district Office of Jianggan District, and on the website of the Hangzhou Urban Planning Bureau until February 22.
