Railway moves ahead

THE planned Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou Railway has passed feasibility testing and will start construction next year, according to a recent statement from the Hangzhou Development and Reform Commission.

With trains reaching speeds of 350 kilometers per hour, the railway will carry passengers from Hangzhou to Taizhou in less than one hour. The planned railway is 270.8 kilometers long in total, and will include some 240 km of new track.

The line will include eight stops, including at newly built stations in Dongguan, Xinchang, Tiantai and Taizhou. Construction is expected to finish in 2021.
