Paytm opens China office

PAYTM, the largest mobile payment and e-commerce company from India, set up its China headquarters in Hangzhou.

It became the fourth global Internet company to operate in China (Hangzhou) Cross-border E-Commerce Pilot Zone after Google, Amazon and Wish. All of them set up business within the past one month.

“This is a landmark event for Paytm!” said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO of Paytm, at the launch ceremony. “We will open an R&D center in Hangzhou and help Chinese companies to sell their products in India and all over the world.”

Ant Financial Services Group became the largest investor of Paytm in 2015.

From January to May, 234 companies were registered in the cross-border e-commerce zone with a combined capital of 1.59 billion yuan.
