Infrastructure projects

HANGZHOU will carry out 10 major transportation projects, including a high-speed train station at Xiaoshan International Airport, according to the city’s five-year transport infrastructure plan released on Sunday.

The station will connect Xiaoshan airport with the high-speed railway network in Zhejiang Province and to Shaoxing, Taizhou, Huangshan and Shanghai.

Xiaoshan airport authority also plans to build a third runway in 2022 and put it in service in 2025. It is expected to cost 6.6 billion yuan (US$977 million). The airport is expected to receive 41.5 million travelers a year before 2021.

The Hangzhou Development and Reform Commission and the Hangzhou Transportation Bureau drew up plans to make the city the largest transport hub south of the Yangtze River Delta.

The 10 projects will involve a total investment of about 500 billion yuan and include the construction of Hangzhou South Railway Station and Jiangdong Railway Station.
