Hangzhou’s Internet Culture Festival includes free do-it-yourself photo postcard

Program Code: 0909346131205002

The month-long 5th Hangzhou Internet Culture Festival starts today, featuring a free do-it-yourself postcard promotion.

The annual event aims to promote the beauty, harmony and happy life of Hangzhou and foster a healthy Internet culture. A series of online and offline activities will be held, including forums, lectures, postcard design and video-making.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the postcard design activity by visiting www.hicenter.cn. You can pick one of the 20 selected photos from thousands of entries in this year’s Hangzhou Citizen Photography Festival. Or, you can upload your own favorite photo to the website.

After filling in the required information, such as names, addresses and postal codes of the sender and the recipient, the Hangzhou Post Office will print your chosen photo as a postcard and send it to the designated address in China or abroad.

Also, Hangzhou citizens are being called to “market Hangzhou” by uploading their videos about Hangzhou.

During the festival, a related activity called “At Home, See the World” will display videos of a series of lectures about exotic cultures and tourism on www.hicenter.com and other local websites.

The lectures held earlier this year were organized by the local government, which invited officials of foreign consulates in Shanghai as lecturers.

The festival is co-organized by the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party Hangzhou Committee, the International Communications Office (the Internet Information Office) of the CPC Hangzhou Committee and the Hangzhou Internet Culture Association.

The Hangzhou International Information Exchange Center, also known as the Hi Center, was established in 2010 as a nonprofit institution devoted to promoting the city of Hangzhou to foreigners.
