Billion dollar projects
THE 624 construction projects that kicked off last Tuesday across Zhejiang Province include 65 in Hangzhou, involving a total investment of 105.7 billion yuan.
The city plans to invest about 613 billion yuan in various projects this year.
These include Metro Line 7 and an extension of Line 1, both going to Xiaoshan International Airport.
Metro Line 7 — 47.6 kilometers long and with 23 underground stations — will connect Hangzhou Railway Station with Xiaoshan airport and provide a direct link between Qianjiang New Town and Qianjiang Century City when it opens in 2021.
The third phase of Metro Line 1 is a 12.2-kilometer extension with five underground stations, including a transfer station at Xiaoshan International Airport.
It is slated to begin operating in 2019.
When Hangzhou hosts the Asian Games in 2022, the city will have 10 Metro lines covering nine districts.
Meanwhile, work is underway to build an expressway from Jiande County west of Hangzhou to Jinhua City south of Hangzhou.
Total investment is 9.75 billion yuan.
The 57.9-kilometer expressway is scheduled to open in 2020 as the final link of the G25 Expressway, a trunk road from Changchun in northeast Jilin Province to Shenzhen in southern Guangdong Province.
Last year, Hangzhou launched 186 construction projects with a total investment of 583.5 billion yuan.
