A big fall push for creativity

PLAYING host to Chengdu Creativity & Design Week is among the many efforts that the capital city of Sichuan Province is making to bolster its creative industries.

This year, the campaign will take place from October 1-14. More than 1 million people, including designers, representatives for educational institutions and companies from both home and abroad of the creative industries, are expected to participate in various events.

The Eighth UNESCO Creative Cities Network Annual General Meeting is also considered an integral part of the week, although the conference will be held this month.

Other activities include the opening of the Chengdu Artwork Bonded Warehouse, the release of Creative Chengdu Award, the nomination of masters of Chengdu Urban Design, the Chengdu Creative Industry Expo and a global competition of giant panda color drawing.

The Four-year Initiative for Chengdu Creativity and Design Industry will also be unveiled during the week.
