Logistics firm targets colleges

ALIBABA’S logistics affiliate Cainiao Network aims to further expand its network of service points to cover more than 1,700 domestic colleges by the end of this year to better tap the demand from students shopping online.

Courier delivery staff will drop the packages from online shopping sites such as Alibaba’s retail platforms Taobao and Tmall as well as third-party e-commerce sites at Cainiao Network’s service points for students to pick them up later by using their personal identification cards and a verification code sent to their mobile phones.

About 1 million packages are delivered daily on average to Cainiao Network’s current service points, and that figure is expected to double by the end of this year.

There are now service points in 1,200 colleges nationwide, and they have served more than 15 million students.
