Hikvision buys UK alarm firm

HIKVISION, a leading Chinese video surveillance manufacturer, has bought an English intrusion alarm manufacturer, it was reported yesterday.

Pyronix, which is based in the South Yorkshire town of Rotherham, confirmed the deal in a statement on its website, but did not give a figure for the size of the investment.

The company, which employs about 200 people at two sites in England, exports its products to more than 70 countries.

Founder Julie Kenny said: “This acquisition represents a huge opportunity for Pyronix, Rotherham, and the region. The foreign direct investment that this will bring to the UK will be huge. Hikvision has big plans for the growth of Pyronix and the continued development globally.”
