Fair to show off ‘festival of robots’
THE China International Industry Fair will showcase a “festival of robots” as well as display new-energy vehicles when it opens next week in Shanghai.
More than 2,270 firms from 28 countries and regions will attend this year’s show — the biggest in the event’s history — held at Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Center from November 3 to 7.
Robotics will take up the largest theme exhibition zone and has drawn senior executives from the top-five robotic companies.
“China needs robots for smart manufacturing and economic structure upgrade,” said Ma Jing, vice chairman of the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Informatization, one of the event organizers. “It will be a festival of robots.”
SAIC, BYD, BMW and other carmakers will display new-energy cars and concept models in a special zone.
China has rolled out measures to promote the use of new-energy vehicles, including tax exemptions, subsidies for car purchases and a requirement for government bodies to buy more new-energy cars.
