Eying to hit Honor-able revenue goal
HUAWEI Technologies aims to double revenue of its Honor-brand smartphones in the second half of the year from the same period of last year to US$7 billion, China’s No. 1 smartphone vendor said yesterday.
“We will adapt the Honor brand to input more fashion and high-end elements in the latest models,” Zhao Ming, Huawei Honor’s president, said at a press conference to release the Honor 8, which starts selling next Tuesday.
Huawei expects the new models, including the Honor 8, to contribute revenue of US$7 billion in the second half — more than double from US$3.4 billion a year ago, said Zhao.
In 2015, Huawei achieved a revenue of US$6 billion from selling 40 million Honor smartphones in 74 countries and regions, including the United States.
The brand usually sells for below 1,500 yuan (US$224).
