Walking street gets cartoon makeover

An interactive installation theme park featuring around 100 cartoon and animation figures by Bilibili is being staged for the next two weeks at Century Plaza on Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall.

Popular domestic animations, cartoons and documentaries on large LED screens are expected to attract 100,000 visitors.

The park is expected to bring more foot traffic to the shopping street by exploring new ways to connect online and offline resources and to further enhance the city’s brand as a shopping destination.

About a dozen virtual online hosts will livestream on Bilibili to promote the pop-up attraction.

It will serve as a warm up to the completion of the extension of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall.

The revamp and upgrade are designed to make the walking street not only a popular online celebrity site but also a top choice for international brands to launch new products.
