Sino-UK partnership for patients

British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and Beijing-based mobile healthcare consultation application Chunyu Doctor said they have formed a partnership to offer patients with management of chronicle diseases.

The two parties would focus on patients’ medical and daily demand for care of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes with the number of patients for these two disease areas rises quickly.

They would launch joint training activities for grass-root medical practitioners as well as patient education programs both through online and offline channels so that patients can have better understanding of their health situation.

Patients that are diagnosed with cardiovascular diseases not only want to receive prescription from doctors, but also their instruction and guidance regarding their daily activities such as dietary habits, according to Wang Lei, president of AstraZeneca China.

“The partnership would enhance patients’ disease management capabilities as they can leverage Chunyu Doctor’s online platform for disease consultation and follow-up visits with doctors and is also our latest efforts to respond to the national healthcare reform,” said Chunyu Doctor’s founder and chief executive officer Zhang Rui.

Chunyu said it currently connects with more than 90 million users and about 400,000 physicians across the country so that patients can consult health problems, mainly mild ones, through online channels instead of going to hospitals.
