SMG to set up 1 billion yuan fund for producing new TV and Internet programs

SHANGHAI Media Group will set up a fund of 1 billion yuan to create and develop new contents for TV and Internet programs, officials said today.

Creation will cover genres of documentaries, TV series, animation and variety shows.

This year SMG Pictures will cooperate with the Walt Disney Company to shoot a nature documentary film "Born in China."

Mainland film maker Lu Chuan will helm the film. The production team also includes veteran British documentary producers and cinematographers. It is a film about wildlife and nature.
