New hanger, maintenance facilities planned for business jets

Airport authorities in Shanghai will build a new hanger facility for business jets at the city’s Hongqiao airport by 2017 in response to a rising demand for business and private aircraft.

A specialized maintenance facility is also planned for the airport in Pudong, said authorities, without offering a specific timeframe on completion.

Business jets took off and landed at the city’s two airports 4,792 times in 2014, up 6.8 percent from the previous year. The number of takeoff and landings also increased in the first quarter, said Lu Xun, deputy general manager with Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Ground Service Company.
