Nestle launches customer engagement center in Shanghai

Nestle's food service unit Nestle Professional has launched a customer engagement center in Shanghai and is eyeing to open two more facilities in Guangzhou and Chengdu in the future with the booming food and catering business.

The 30-member team of chef and barrister are to develop new food services solutions for caterers seeking to diversify and adjust their menu based on Nestle's existing culinary products and would also serve as a training center for Nestle's own catering professionals to develop new products and new applications.

The launch of the Shanghai center follows an earlier launch in Beijing several years ago as Nestle sees the strong growth momentum of out-of-home food services market while consumers are also increasingly conscious about food quality and safety.

"The Shanghai Customer Engagement Center would allow us to better understand sour customers' need and issues as well as business opportunities in China," said Jeroen Pluijmers, regional head of Nestle Professional Asia, Oceania and Africa. "It's a milestone for our journey to offer more possibilities for our customers and take the food service to another level in China," he added.

China's food and catering market was valued 3.2 trillion yuan by the end of 2015, according to the China Cuisine Association's report earlier this year.
