Key companies back in operation
Nearly 1,000 Pudong-based industrial enterprises with an annual income of 20 million yuan (US$2.84 million) and above have resumed operations, accounting for 66 percent of total output, according to Guan Xiaojun, deputy director of the Pudong New Area. And 70 percent of e-commerce enterprises have resumed operations, providing important support for people’s livelihood during the epidemic, Guan said.
More than 85 percent of trade firms are also returning to work, while 80 percent of shopping malls and 40 supermarkets have opened their doors, he added.
Yesterday morning, the builder of several landmarks in the Lingang area chartered buses to pick up migrant workers and return them to work.
Workers will be picked up at designated stops in nine cities which are not in key affected areas. All the buses will be half full and there will be support personnel on board.
