SHANGHAI’S engineering expertise in a range of industries has propelled the city to top the rankings in innovation environment, capability and activity in China, a researcher from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said yesterday.
Shanghai ranked ahead of Shenzhen and Beijing due to the support the city has received in scientific innovation from the government and the presence of innovative sectors like new energy vehicle, said Wan Pengyuan, deputy director of the Electronic Technology Information Research Institute under the ministry.
