German Technology Center launches 20 projects in China

GERMAN Technology Center launched 20 industrial cooperation projects with China during a technology trade fair on Saturday as to expand Germany's technology footprint in the city and to accelerate the pace of technology transformation in the country.

Projects launched by GTC on the Third China (Shanghai) Technology Fair mainly covers "industry 4.0, smart cities, intelligent robots and emission reduction", including training project signed with Tsinghua University and cooperative research and develop program over intelligent robot with local companies.

Besides, Berlin's state-owned urban technology hub Berlin TXL- The Urban Tech Republic will lead a smart city demonstration project in China, and the German side decided to build Research and Development Center and Incubation Base for Chinese start-ups in Berlin to strengthen the cooperation, Zhang Dongfu, member of chairman board and Asian market director at GTC told Shanghai Daily.

The organization told Shanghai Daily that it will establish a linkage platform between Berlin, Shanghai and New York, and plans to sign with local government within a year, letting such kind of technology exchanges to be discussed under the same scheme.

Philipp Bouteiller, the chief executive officer at Berlin TXL, said Shanghai has the potential to be an international innovation center for China in terms of openness, and Germany's advanced experience could help.

“Technology could make the city to be smart from the day one after a fully cooperation and discussion with its counterparts.” Bouteiller said.
