Airbus invests further in Tianjin

French plane maker Airbus has fixed a deal to invest in a second factory alongside its existing site in Tianjin as it seeks to attract new suppliers and businesses a growing market in China.

The new cabin-completion plant for A330 jetliners is worth a reported 150 million euros (US$166 million), with the signing on Thursday witnessed by China's Prime Minister Li Keqiang at the company’s headquarters in France.

Earlier this week, China signed a deal for 45 new Airbus planes worth more than US$11 billion.

Airbus' president Fabrice Bregier said the agreement on the A330 completion and delivery center would widen the cooperative channel with China on wide-body aircraft.

Airbus’ first Tianjin plant began operation in 2008 and was its first A320 production line outside Europe. Both sites are now located in the city’s free trade zone.
