Holiday traffic restrictions in place

Traffic restrictions will be in place in some downtown areas to ease congestion during the National Day holiday.

From today through Thursday, Yan’an Elevated Road and Yan’an Road E. Tunnel will be partially closed to vehicles from 3:30pm until 11:39pm. Some roads around People’s Square, Yuyuan Garden, Huaihai Road, Xujiahui and Pudong’s Lujiazui area will also be off limits during the four days.

Metro lines 1 and 2 will extend service by one hour tonight as some department stores will remain open late while more people are expected to be out and about. Accordingly, 49 bus routes with a terminus near the stations of these two Metro lines will also extend operations for one hour tonight.

Some of the bus routes that will extend operations include: No. 95, 802, 13, 67, 925, 451, Tunnel bus No. 3 near Shanghai Railway Station, and Tunnel bus No. 6 near People’s Square.

However, Nanjing Road E. Station on Metro Line 2 will close at 4pm daily from today to Thursday.

Also, 11 bus services will be canceled from 3:30pm to 11:30pm during the four days, while a number of others will feature different routes to ease congestion.

Ferries connecting Dongchang Road and Jinling Road E. on the two sides of the Huangpu River will suspend service starting on the Pudong side on the four days.

The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel will also be closed from today through Thursday.
