Teacher pays the price for texting girl student
A SECONDARY vocational school teacher was removed from his position for sending text messages to a girl student who posted them online.
Yang Peisen, the class teacher of the student, was also given administrative punishment and all honorary titles revoked, according to an announcement on the official website of the Shanghai Economic Management School.
In some of the messages, Yang wrote, “I am falling in love with you,” “You are my goddess” and “I cannot sleep but think about you.”
The student, who was unidentified and is around 18 years of age, said Yang had been harassing her by sending love messages for a long time. She said he kept calling her even after she had made it clear she was not interested in him.
“I cannot stand any more. I wouldn’t have exposed him if he hadn’t called me three times again,” the student wrote on her microblog and attached the screenshots of the messages last Saturday.
The student told Yang not to purse her as he is married and has a son. Yang replied he couldn’t cheat himself from the feeling that he was in love with her.
At one point he addressed her as “sister” and then asked “Have you taken bath?”
In other messages, he wrote: “I will carry the torch for you,” “I hadn’t fallen in love before I met you” and “You and your voice are so beautiful.”
Yang also said he would like to spend money on the student. The student said she replied to Yang’s messages out of her respect but it became intolerable.
The school said the text messages were unethical and had a bad impact.
Many netizens said the punishment was too light for Yang.
“The teacher should be fired instead of just being removed from the position,” said a netizen identified as Neo on China’s microblogging site weibo.com.
