Fudan postgraduate student shines in Astana

PENG Bo, a postgraduate student from Fudan University, was the star of a youth innovative competition held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Peng won two awards at the Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance (YICGG) 2017 — for most innovative team and best performance player.

Along with a student from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University and another from China’s Nanjing University, Peng took first prize with their joint proposal on various devices and systems for utilizing different forms of energy in Central Asia based on local conditions and resources.

He won the other award for giving an excellent speech about the proposal during the “Ignite Talk” session of the four-day event.

“I really enjoyed the competition, communicating with participants from different cultural and educational backgrounds,” said Peng.

Olexandr Pidchosa, assistant professor from Taras Shevchenko National University of kyiv and a YICGG judge, praised the event as an excellent place for students to take part in educational, cultural and intellectual exchanges. “I really appreciate Fudan University for organizing it.” he added.

First launched in 2007 by Fudan University and sponsored by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in China, the annual event set “Future Energy and Sustainable Infrastructure” as its theme this year.

A total of 198 students from 42 countries had submitted proposals on the topic and 66 from 32 countries entered the final held at Nazarbayev University in Astana.
