Eleven injured in nightclub shooting in southeast Greece
ELEVEN people were injured Saturday in a shooting inside a nightclub in a Piraeus port district in southeastern Greece, said local police authority.
Three of the injured were in serious condition, said the authority.
According to early information, an unidentified gunman entered the club in Mikrolimano of Piraeus armed with an automatic Kalashnikov rifle and then fired at staff members and customers.
After the shooting, the man managed to escape by taxi, according to eye witnesses.
Police sources said that investigators are examining whether the incident is linked to a similar shooting which occurred on Oct. 30 in a nightclub in a central Athens district.
In that case, a man died and a woman was injured when two men fired also with Kalashnikov rifles and fled by a car.
Police suspected that these cases are gang-related.
