Tourist Fined For Venting His Anger at Seagull
A tourist vented his anger on a seagull after he was stopped by security from catching the bird at Haigeng Dam in Kunming City on January 9.
The tourist, in his 50s, threw the seagull to the ground, breaking its wings.
The security team called the police. The man was fined 2,500 yuan (US$362) for his act. The injured bird was recovering after receiving medical treatment.
It was not the only incident. Three other tourists were found holding the seagulls and taking photos. They were fined 625 yuan each.
According to the regulations, people who catch seagulls can be fined up to eight times the price of the bird. The authorities have valued the price of each seagull at 625 yuan.
