Police are investigating claims by four women that a taxi driver took indecent photographs of them in his cab.

The four female college students called a ride-hailing service application, called Didi, in Dalian, North China’s Liaoning Province on June 25, at 4:35pm, to return to college.

They were taking a nap in the car, during the 20 kilometers journey, when one of the girls, in the front passenger seat, found the driver taking pictures of her legs and underneath the skirts of both her and her schoolmates with his cell phone. She also claimed the driver touched her breasts with his elbow when waiting for the traffic lights to change.

The four furious girls demanded the driver hand over his cell phone so they could delete the photographs. They found there was several videos of their legs in his phone’s recycle bin when he gave them his phone. They also asked a refund of their car fare of 55 yuan (US$8) before getting out of the car.

The driver argued he had unconsciously taken pictures of the girls’ legs and seized back his cell phone before escaping when they girls threatened him with the police. The students also found the car plate was inconsistent with their order on the ride-hailing app.

Police are carrying out further investigations into the incident.
