A video of female Taiji “master” Yan Fang pushing men from a distance has gone viral — but some readers are skeptical.

Yan, vice chairman of the 5th Martial Arts Association of Hebei Province and a member of the 10th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Shijiazhuang city, calls herself a first-generation disciple of Jingwu Tai Chi, a Tai Chi school initiated by Master Li Jingwu.

In the video, Yan pushes away several men from a distance, without touching them. The clip also appears to show her making a man jump up and down. Yan says she mastered her skills in the early 1990s.

A demonstration shows men at the back of a line of five being pushed away and staggering when Yan simply pats the chest of the man in front.

A CCTV reporter failed to feel the power, but Yan says it only works on people who have practised Tai Chi before.

Tai Chi, a martial art which combines slow, deliberate movements, meditation and deep breathing, is the most popular form of exercise among older Chinese people and has been practiced by in China for more than 400 years.
