Textbook Covers Drawn By A Father In Hangzhou Goes Viral
Artistic textbook covers, illustrated by a father who is a PE teacher himself, have gone viral.
Zheng Gang, who hails from Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, spent five hours on the night of February 13 to cover the new semester textbooks with brown papers. He illustrated the book covers for his son, who is a grade-3 student at the city’s Nanxiaobu Elementary School.
Zheng copied the illustrations of a well-known painter Feng Zikai who was also a well-known caricaturist. Zheng copied the illustrations and matched them with the subjects of the books.
Zheng started to use brown paper from last year instead of plastic covers over health concerns. He decided to draw something on the covers as the brown papers looked boring.
Zheng was not alone in his creativity. Another woman, a mother, illustrated animal figures on the book covers for her child who goes to Tianchang Elementary School.
