Schoolgirl Wows Internet with Blackboard Paintings
A senior high school student from Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, has become an Internet sensation after her stunning blackboard paintings went viral.
Yang Tonghua, 16, a sophomore from Fuzhou No.1 High School, had been painting on her classroom blackboard for two years.
She posted the pictures of her work on her Weibo account on February 24, which soon won almost 9,500 likes.
Her most impressive artwork was a gouache painting inspired by Zhang Yimou's recent film, “The Great Wall.”
Yang said she was always thinking about drawing a picture of sky lanterns after watching the film. It took her several hours to finish the work, Fuzhou Evening News reported. She also used fluorescent coloring to make it visible in the dark.
"A lot of students are capable of drawing gouache paintings, but few of them add original ideas into their artworks," said Ye Zhou, Yan’s class teacher. "The painting 'The Great Wall' presented different effects under different light conditions which greatly showed Yang's creativity."
Her paintings are popular with students and teachers alike.
