Russian Man As a Half-day Urban Inspector in Changzhou

A Russian man worked as a chengguan, or urban management officer, for half a day in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, on Monday.

Born in 1990, the man from Vladivostok speaks fluent Mandarin. He became an Internet star when a free tasting event which was carried out on the street before the Spring Festival by his restaurant and featured homemade cakes and bread was stopped by Changzhou chengguan for violating certain regulations.

The Russian man showed great interest in this profession as there’s no such job back in his home country.

He “worked” on February 20 from 9:30am to 11:30am, asking a shop owner to clear the sidewalk occupied by the products from her store and helped her remove the goods. He also stopped two men handing out leaflets at the square.

The Russian man said he had thought that chengguan would wear weapon. However, the job is more about wisdom and wits after he experienced it. He said, “Changzhou would not be such a clean and livable city without chengguan’s hard work.”
