Poor College Student Funds Three Junior Students For Three Years
Tang Lisha, a junior student at Chengdu Normal College, has spent almost 20,000 yuan (US$2,904) for three years to support three poverty-stricken students in Chongqing while her own monthly living expenses are less than 200 yuan, Chengdu Business News reported.
Tang saved up money by working many part-time jobs, such as polishing shoes, teaching kids to draw, distributing leaflets and selling waste paper.
The three students she funds study in Longxi Middle School in Chongqing’s Dazu County. Tang has supported them with living expenses, new clothes and food since they were junior grade-one students. She now sends them 300-500 yuan a month.
Tang said the three students had a promising future and need a good base. She is unwilling to see them fail to go to high school and university just because of lack of money, the report said.
Tang’s father who is a village teacher has paid tuition fees for more than 30 students by doing various manual labors such as collecting garbage and digging coal. Tang is influenced by her father a lot.
Netizens appreciated Tang’s kind act, although some had a mixed feelings, saying one should help others within one’s ability.
