Heart-Broken Father Records Brave Daughter’s Fight Against Brain Tumor
A heart-broken father has paid tribute to his brave ‘angel’ who died of a brain tumor on Father’s Day.
The devastated dad, surnamed Liu from Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, aware his beautiful four-and-a-half-year-old daughter was losing her fight to live, recorded her last days and posted it on Weibo. It brought an outpouring of sympathy on social media.
Liu’s daughter passed away on June 17, Father’s Day, and he said it was the best possible present he could receive because it meant she was no longer suffering from pain. The emotional father hailed his daughter had become an ‘angel’ because of her suffering and donated her cornea to science. The cornea is the transparent front part of the eye that covers the iris, pupil and anterior chamber.
The baby girl was diagnosed with a brain tumor 18 months ago when she was a little over three-years-old. Liu explored every avenue to cure or prolong his daughter’s life and she underwent two major surgeries, 19 chemotherapies and 10 lumbar punctures in that time period.
Medical experts in Beijing suggested abandoning treatment to ease the pain during her last days after recurrence and metastasis of the tumor was spotted for the third time.
Liu made a wish for his daughter on June 1, Children’s Day, hoping she would have a happy and peaceful sleep forever. He also had a photo of his daughter tattooed on his arm.
Dozens on emotional netizens took to social media to wish Liu’s daughter a happy afterlife.
