Chinese Nurse Helps Student in Japan Who Had Fainted

A Chinese nurse on a holiday in Japan helped a local student who was suffering from an epileptic seizure.

Ren Shuangshuang, 28, from Zhengzhou, Henan Province, saw a middle school girl, who had fainted on the road, foaming from the mouth at the tourist site Senso-ji on April 20. She immediately rushed to help her.

She put a wet tissue in her mouth, loosened her shirt and pressed her chest a few times. Soon after she regained consciousness, she was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

A Japanese netizen posted Ren’s photos on the social media on May 9, which attracted the attention of the Chinese media.

Japanese web users were greatly touched by her action and said "thank you" in Chinese under the post online.

Ren, who works at Henan Cancer Hospital as a surgical nurse, said later that before she left the scene, the sick girl's schoolmates bowed in appreciation.

Many Chinese netizens also applauded her good deed. One of them commented, "Good girl! Love has no nationalities."

"Coming from a medical fraternity, I couldn't just look away and be afraid of taking on a responsibility,” Ren told a reporter. “Even if I can’t do well, I had to lend a helping hand."

"I saw the condition, and so went to help. It doesn’t mean I was being noble,” she added.
