Woman's Complaint against Traffic Cop Draws Sympathy, Fury

A female driver from Kunming complained about a traffic police officer for his bad attitude on Sina Weibo on December 5, which raised concerns in public.

The woman, surnamed Shen, wrote in her post that after she dropped her child to the kindergarten, she saw a policeman sticking a traffic ticket for illegal parking on her car. She argued with the police officer and drove away. Three police officers started to chase her car on their motorcycles and one of them forced her to stop. The policeman asked her to hand over her driver's license in a fierce attitude.

Some netizens expressed sympathy over her experience. However, after the video of the incident was released on the social media, online viewers showed solidarity with the police officer and condemned the woman's behavior.

In the video, the woman refused to hand over her driving permit and license and demanded why she should follow his order.

Netizens commented that the policeman was doing his job in a normal way and said, "Shen should cooperate and not ask for reason."

The traffic authority of Kunming also issued a statement on December 6 which said the policeman had followed the guidelines in the execution of his duty. They found more than 20 traffic violations cases involving Shen which she hadn’t resolved. In addition, Shen didn't stick the annual inspection mark and the insurance mark on her car which violated the traffic law.

Netizens also found the penalty notices that Shen had received before and called her a true "road killer."
