Girl, 12, Drowns In City Street During Downpour
She was crossing the road with the old woman hand in hand around 5pm. Both were knocked down by a rush of water when they were about two meters from the roadside.
The old woman was swept to the roadside while the girl was washed underneath a black car.
The old woman was rescued by passers-by as she called for help. The girl, who became trapped under the car, had already drowned by the time she was found by traffic police half-an-hour later.
The girl was a sixth-grade student at an experimental primary school in the city’s Dachuan District. She died about 200 meters from her home, local media said.
