Taiwan Grandma Goes Viral For Carrying Fish In LV handbag
A Taiwan grandma has gone viral recently for carrying fresh fish in a Louis Vuitton handbag without knowing its expensive value – a story which even drew the attention of the BBC.
A Taiwan netizen said on local social networking site “Dcard” on March 29 that his grandma had been treating a Louis Vuitton handbag he had gifted her as an ordinary plastic bag for all kinds of groceries and even milkfish. She even told him the handbag was very waterproof, but slightly heavy, leaving him dumbfounded.
According to the BBC report, the 'Neverfull' handbag is highly prized in Asia and around the world, and retails for about US$1,110.
The original Dcard post said the netizen bought his grandma this expensive Louis Vuitton handbag after seeing her using a floral cloth bag for years. Although the netizen admitted that he felt “speechless” when he found the use of this Louis Vuitton handbag, he decided not to point out grandma’s mistake after seeing how happy it made her.
The post has been liked more than 31,000 times. Netizens say grandma is now a fashion icon and applauded her as simple and adorable.
“Your granny is the fashion icon of wet market.”
“Lol, this is the most fashionable shopping basket of the day.”
“Your granny must be most fashionable person at the market, walking around like she's strutting on the runway, even the fish has gone up in value!”
