Man Detained For Scattering 500 Coins To Pay 50-yuan Fine
When being fined for violating a law, few can stay calm, but there’s something you must be careful of: Artifice can take you only that much far.
A man surnamed Li who was found running red lights recently in Jinshan District was ordered to pay a 50-yuan fine in cash, Shanghai Television reported.
He pretended to have no cash and went to the bank to exchange 50 yuan into 500 jiao (1 yuan is for 10 jiao).
After an hour, he went back with 500 coins and scattered them on the ground, clearly willing to play a tricks.
As passers-by flocked at the scene causing traffic jam, police brought him to the police station where Li confessed that he deliberately did so to cause inconvenience.
He said if he could take pictures of policemen picking up coins, he would share them on WeChat Moment to make fun of the police.
A usual breach of traffic regulations that would have cost him nothing more than 50 yuan ended up with Li being detained for 5 days and fined 200 yuan for obstructing.
Clearly, it is not so wise.
