Owner Told to Demolish Illegally Built Swimming Pool on Top of Residential Building
A resident has been told to demolish an illegally built swimming pool he constructed on the roof of his building.
The swimming pool, which was built without permission on the top of a tall residential building in Dezhou, Shandong Province, triggered complaints from the man’s neighbors. At least nine residents dialed the 12345 complaints hotline to voice concern over potential damage to the building and highlighted safety hazards.
The owner of the top floor apartment built the swimming pool, about 3 meters in diameter and one meter deep, without any approval. Wood floors were also paved on the original cement floor. The owner admitted that he didn't consider the swimming pool to be a problem and was not expecting such strong objections from neighbors.
Property staff have now sealed off the passage to the top of building and the owner has promised to demolish the illegal construction when he returns from a business trip.
