Nurse Couple Delights Internet With Operating-room Wedding Photos

Chinese couples are no longer heading to exotic beaches or scenic sites to have their wedding photos taken. These days, many are getting creative when it comes to staging, costumes and tone.

Recently, one couple donned surgical suits and posed for their wedding pictures in an operating room. The photos, which capture the love between Zhang Xin and Mao Lei, struck many with their playful tone and unconventional setting.

The couple work as nurses in the Jiangnan Branch of Chongqing Three Gorges Central Hospital in Wanzhou, Chongqing City.

Their marriage evolved from a friendship formed during their school days in Chongqing. As students, they worked together and discovered they had much in common.

After graduation, Zhang left their hometown. In 2010, Zhang’s mother was hospitalized. Unable to take care of her mother, Zhang sought help from Mao, who worked in Three Gorges Central Hospital.

This was the beginning of their love story.

For five years, the couple kept up a long-distance relationship between Chongqing and Wanzhou.

In 2015, amid objections from Zhang’s parents, she gave up her job and moved back to her hometown.

Mao proposed to Zhang on a snowy night last December with a simple offer: “How about going for our wedding rings after work?”

To commemorate their love story, the well-match pair wanted a unique set of wedding pictures.

They contacted a photographer, who suggested taking their pictures in an operating room. The photos were taken earlier this month, during a four-hour shooting session.
