Meet China's Most Special 'School Hunk'
A rural Chinese dog Xile has become the most special "school hunk" at a primary school in southwest China’s Chengdu City.
Xile was just a puppy when it sneaked into Caotang Primary School three years ago. Now a special fifth grader, it is a popular star not only in the class but in the whole school as it once won the "school hunk" contest.
Xile's classmates organized a party on May 13 to celebrate his third year with them since he was found, Chengdu Business Daily reported.
A teacher said little Xile looked very sad when found three years ago. However, the puppy looked very cute and the students could not bear driving it away. So they asked if they could take care of it.
Lan Jihong, the school headmaster, said she was concerned about her student's safety.
"But I saw Xile, I couldn’t say no to my students because the real education is about your attitude towards life. If I rejected their request, I would have conveyed the message that people can discard life at random," Lan said.
From his student friends, the stray dog soon got a name 'Xile', which means joyful and happy in Chinese. They also built a "villa" for it.
When Xile fell ill three months later, his young friends raised money for his treatment. They used the unspent money to establish Xile Foundation to take care of its daily expenses after treatment. Xile soon recovered under the good care of the students.
According to the class teacher, Xile’s presence helps the students learn how to give love and understand the importance of responsibility.
