Sonova gives gift of hearing: life without limitations

AS a leading provider of innovative hearing care solutions, Switzerland-headquartered Sonova Group strives to create a world where everyone enjoys the delight of hearing and lives a life without limitations.

The latest strategic move is that it has recently signed a global strategic cooperation framework with the Beijing Institute of Otolaryngology (BIO) and inaugurated the global strategic cooperation center at the same time.

The cooperation under the agreement is not only about scientific research but also includes education and training, universal accesses to hearing care knowledge and efforts to improve public awareness of hearing care.

It aims to improve the academic and research capability in the field of hearing care in China, cultivate industry talents, benefit people with hearing loss and promote the development of the hearing care industry in China.

“As the first professional research institute of otolaryngology in China, BIO keeps its leading position in a number of academic fields through its achievements in clinical and fundamental research,” said Zhang Luo, president of BIO.

“The cooperation with Sonova will not only take the advantage of our clinical and human resources but also initiate a new mode of comprehensive strategic cooperation in industry which will certainly promote the rapid development of China’s hearing care industry.”

Sonova has been in the forefront of the industry in terms of technological innovation, academic ability, professional personnel training and hearing care services, said Albert Lim, senior vice-president of Sonova’s Asia-Pacific region.

“Sonova always pays special attention to understand and meet the needs of people with hearing loss in China and cooperates with BIO to introduce a Chinese language processor in line with local demand,” said Lim. “The strategic cooperation with BIO is one of our important strategic initiatives in China and will definitely benefit more and more people with hearing loss in China.”

Sonova and BIO have jointly developed APDT Chinese language processor which has been fully applied in hearing aids of Phonak, a member of the Sonova Group.

It has been proven to significantly enhance the user’s understanding of the Chinese language through clinical verification and benefited many hearing aid users in China. The processor and its social application even received the 2016 Shanghai CSR Innovation Award. The honor recognizes outstanding corporate social responsibility.

Moreover, Phonak has recently introduced hearing aids based on the Venture platform. Powered by a state-of-the-art proprietary chip which provides double the processing capacity as its predecessor, Phonak Venture hearing aids allow hearing aid wearers to benefit from better all-around hearing performance in even more listening situations. Additionally, power consumption is reduced by 30 percent when streaming.

New functionalities like the new operating system AutoSense OS™ can be made possible  only by creating a new chip with double amount of processing power. AutoSense OS™ is the next generation of technology automation that provides seamless adaptation to the wearer’s listening situation with unrivalled accuracy and precision.

Featuring over 200 distinct settings to draw from, it accurately captures and analyzes sounds in real time to precisely match the hearing aid wearer’s exact listening environments. With no manual interaction required, it creates an exceptional listening experience as transitioning from one sound environment to another is smooth and comfortable.

AutoSense OS™ makes use of yet another industry-leading technology, known as Binaural VoiceStream Technology.

This streams the full audio bandwidth in real-time and bi-directionally between the two hearing aids for unmatched speech understanding and improved sound quality.

AutoSense OS™ also gives the hearing care professional the opportunity to fine tune settings individually for all of the programs and features within the automatic system. This flexibility to fine tune AutoSense OS™ so accurately is a unique ability of the Phonak Target fitting software. Phonak Venture hearing aids can connect wirelessly to a user’s TV, music system and telephone for an added boost to these more challenging activities.

The light, slim ergonomic design of Venture hearing aids have a high value-feel and sit comfortably behind the ear. Although small, light and discreet, the Venture portfolio of devices are still tough; developed from high-tech composite materials outperforming predecessors in terms of robustness and reliability.

Available in a range of 11 colors, wearers can match their personality with vibrant or discreet colors. They also have a choice of push button and volume control option for ease and convenience of use. The small and comfortable design of the Venture hearing aids is not the only reason an end user might forget he or she is wearing it.

Phonak always strives to provide the best technology innovations in collaboration with feedback from professionals and end users. The state-of-the-art technology inside Venture hearing aids has been rigorously tested and offers a discreet, feature rich and powerful hearing solution.

Recently Sonova’s brand Phonak launched a next generation device that is powered by mainstream lithium-ion rechargeable battery, Audèo B-R, which will be launched in the Asia Pacific region from the fourth quarter of this year, taking into account the specific aspects of each country. Sonova, headquartered in Stäfa, Switzerland, is the leading manufacturer of innovative hearing care solutions. The group operates through its core business brands Phonak, Unitron, Advanced Bionics and AudioNova.
