Taking a closer look at Italy’s diversity
A contemporary look at Italy’s beauty and variety can be found at the “Discover the Other Italy” photo exhibition at K11 Art Mall. Stefano Beltrame, the Italian consul general in Shanghai, said: “This exhibition shows a wonderful hidden part of Italy. It gives viewers a new perspective — going beyond the traditional destinations of Venice, Florence, Rome and Milan.”
A collection of 210 photographs, 10 from each region plus 10 for Milan, host of the World Expo until October 31, focuses on places that are not so obvious and famous. Villages, monuments, art and traditions are to be rediscovered.
Twenty-one photographers were selected from hundreds of candidates and were tasked with interpreting the region where they were born or have chosen to live.
Next to images of territory there is a gallery of portraits of famous faces signed by Giovanni Gastel, president of the Association of Italian Professional Photographers. The proceeds from the sale of the portraits will go toward the restoration of Villa Arconati.
