Supercar built with 3D-printed chassis

US company Divergent Microfactories recently announced that it would soon unveil a supercar built with a 3D-printed chassis. Named “Blade,” the supercar is quite fast, at an acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.2 seconds, which a McLaren P1 takes 2.8 seconds. Based on a chassis assembled with about 70 3D-printed aluminum joints with carbon fibers, the car weighs 1,400 pounds, about 90 percent lighter than average cars.

It is also equipped with a 700 horsepower four-cylinder engine that burn gasoline or compressed natural gas, reducing carbon emission. The company plans to produce 10,000 cars of this, and offer their techniques to start-ups to design their own cars.
