Photographers share views from Nepal
A photo exhibition titled “Nepal! Nepal!” opened yesterday in Shanghai. According to its organizers, the show is meant to memorialize those who lost their lives in the recent Nepal earthquake while also drawing attention to the country’s striking beauty and culture.
The exhibition’s main organizer, Zeng Yan, said she was inspired by WeChat users who uploaded their own photos taken in Nepal shortly after the disaster.
“Everybody is expressing their condolences in their own way. So I thought, how about we gather these works together and pray for Nepal?”
Zeng’s idea spread quickly and eventually got the attention of Li Weihong and Shi Zheng, two artists based in Shanghai.
“As a photographer, I think Nepal is one of the best places in the world to take photographs. The beauty of Nepal has left a great impression on me,” said Shi, one of the two curators.
“The exhibition is meant for people to share their experiences in Nepal, so that even people who have never set foot in the country can see its beauty,” said Li, the other curator.
About 96 photographers contributed images to the exhibition, which is now on display at the Eryi Private Museum in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area.
