Great cast highlights ‘Tiger Mountain’
HONG Kong director Tsui Hark, known for his martial arts movies, has turned toward the war genre with the 3D epic “The Taking of Tiger Mountain.”
The film is adapted from the famous 1957 Chinese novel “Tracks in the Snowy Forest” by Qu Bo, which has a large fan base in China.
Based on the real life story of an incident in 1946 during China’s civil war, the film revolves around a liberation soldier who is sent to infiltrate a terrorist gang of bandits.
In addition to veteran actors Zhang Hanyu and Leung Ka-fai, the movie stars many young actors such as Lin Gengxin and Tong Liya.
Their performances have been highly praised by some critics.
With spectacular war scenes and an appealing story line, the film is also considered a big competitor to director Jiang Wen’s film “Gone With the Bullets.”
