Bags of inspiration from French luxury goods house

UNCONVENTIONAL exhibition “Louis Vuitton Series 2 — Past, Present, Future’’ is running at the Louis Vuitton Maison, at the Chinaworld Shopping Mall in Beijing until April 12.

Visitors are invited to discover Nicolas Ghesquiere’s inspirations for his third ready-to-wear show as artistic director for the women’s collection at Louis Vuitton.

The exhibition is laid out like a journey into the designer’s mind, according to the brand, allowing visitors to grasp how Ghesquiere reinterprets stylistic codes at the 160-year-old luxury house.

The journey starts with Talking Faces, that allows visitors to experience the entrance scene from LV’s spring/summer 2015 runway presentation that took place in Paris last October.

The Magic Trunk area shows the absolute symbol of the house’s journey from past to present, a tribute to founder Louis himself, who translated a genuine “spirit of travel” through the legendary trunks and travel items he created.

It is followed by Savoir-faire, a visit to the heart of the artisanal know-how that reveals the secrets of craftsmanship. Visitors can discover how iconic shoes, dresses and handbags are made.

The Accessories Gallery features model Marte Mei van Haaster’s avatar in 3D with accessories from the spring/summer 2015 collection.

Visitors finally reach the Poster Room, Sticker Wall, Infinite Show and Backstage that show the theatrical side of fashion, according to organizers.
