Lotuses to enliven scene for annual festival
THE 2nd annual Shanghai Lotus Festival is be held in Guyi Garden starting yesterday and will last until August 3. The theme of this festival, “Earth, Our Beautiful Home” will bring together over 600 different types of lotus flowers from all areas with a special emphasis on a specific type of lotus commonly known as the Tiger Lotus.
These lotuses of all colors and shapes were handpicked by experts in the field and will fill up the large lake in the center of the park to offer a picturesque summer scene. The festival will also feature discussions with top water plant experts from around the world as well as landscape architects to discuss lotuses and the beauty of the surrounding garden. Guyi Garden not only hosts this festival but is also a tourist destination in itself. The garden has eight sections, each with a different theme.
For example, one garden prominently features birds while another is a traditional Chinese garden. For more information visit Guyi Garden’s official Weibo: http://weibo.com/guyiyuan.
