IN celebration of the Speedmaster 60th anniversary, renowned Swiss watch brand Omega held a grand party in Shanghai attended by Susan Chen, president of Swatch Group China; Jean-Pascal Perret, Omega vice president marketing; Jean-Claude Monachon, Omega vice president, product development and customer service and Wilson Yang, vice president of Omega China.
Upon release in 1957, the Speedmaster was an instant hit with professional racers for its rugged construction, precise timekeeping and easy reading. Since the rigorous NASA tests in 1965, the Speedmaster became the most suitable chronograph for space exploration, and as the first watch worn on the moon.
