City show marks Japanese artist’s debut in China’s mainland
MORE than 150 ceramic and porcelain wares made by Japanese artist Kazunori Ohnaka are now on display in Shanghai, which is also the artist’s debut in China’s mainland.
Learning the art at the age of 29, Ohnaka draws his inspiration mainly from ancient Japanese objects and wares, and Buddhism artworks. His most famed series, “Aging Pieces,” are specially made with a cracked effect to exemplify the sense of aging.
Apart from dining wares, the artist is also acclaimed for his tea wares featuring dark glaze colors and simple designs.
The exhibits include dining and tea wares, flower holders, and also sculptures and ceramic plate artworks.
Date: Today, 11am-5pm
